Describing words

READ FIRST: Before you do this, read the part of the grammar about nouns.  If you don't read that, you will not understand this.

There are two types of describing words in English.

shoes

Adjectives and Adverbs

more comfortable, prettier, worn most often  
   
Adjectives describe things and people.  For example:
the red boat
John is unhappy
she is asleep
the dinner is cold
a racing bicycle
a lovely sunset

Adverbs describe states and actions.  For example:
he ran quickly
they usually arrive late
that's absolutely true
slowly and carefully, he opened the parcel
she is arriving late
they can't get in
